| ABOUT DAVE HARJU
Dave Harju is a 15 veteran of triathlon and duathlon. Dave is a two-time Ironman Champion, two-time Canadian Long Distance Champion and has multiple long-course wins in triathlon and duathlon to his credit. His consistent sub-nine hour Ironman performances make him a top contender in every Ironman race he enters. Dave is Head Coach and President of Dave Harju Multisport Coaching. As a certified educator, multisport coach, professional triathlete and Baccalaureate of Kinesiology, Dave is the ideal coach for every level of athlete.
Dave’s start in Ironman came in 1994 by chance. Having never trained for anything longer than an Olympic distance event, Dave tackled the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii with staggering results—a 10:03:00 finish time. From that moment on Dave realized he had uncovered the potential for success.
Dave believes that in every individual lay an athlete ready to achieve success. It is his job to help his clients see that potential as well. With personalized, structured training programs, complete with built-in mechanisms for measuring success, achieving results is within reach for all his clients, from the newbie athlete to the competitive or elite racer. The key element to Dave’s success as a coach is his ability to put people at ease, to transfer his knowledge of triathlon and to make training focused, yet fun and flexible enough to suit the demands of every day life.
When not training for triathlon, Dave changed gears in the winter months and enjoys Nordic skiing. His is an activist for maintaining the health of our great outdoors and can often be found hiking or biking in the Gatineau Park of Quebec near his home.
